Worthing sits on the West Sussex coast, on the English Channel, roughly midway between Brighton and Littlehampton, with the South Downs rising a few miles inland to the north.

- London Victoria is about 48 miles north-east — around 1 hour 25 minutes by direct train.
- Chichester lies to the west along the coast road, and Horsham lies inland to the north via the A24.
By road, the A24 runs north from Worthing towards Horsham, Dorking and on to London, while the A27 and the coastal A259 link east and west along the south coast towards Brighton, Shoreham-by-Sea, Littlehampton and Chichester.
