Worthing's seafront is one of the easiest and most rewarding places on the south coast to cycle, with a flat, paved promenade running the length of the town and sea views the whole way.

Seafront and National Cycle Route 2

The promenade forms part of National Cycle Route 2, which follows the coast from Kent through Sussex and beyond. The stretch between Worthing and Brighton via Shoreham-by-Sea is around 11 miles, flat and well used by families, passing the Widewater Nature Reserve and Shoreham Harbour on the way, with a train station at either end for a one-way ride.

Inland and the South Downs

For a tougher ride, the South Downs rise just a few miles inland from Worthing, with the 101-mile South Downs Way running across the top of the Downs from Winchester to Eastbourne — reachable from Worthing via a climb up through Findon or Cissbury Ring.
